The challenge
The Penn project is a 128.8MW / 348MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) located near Wolverhampton, West Midlands.
Comprising three interconnected battery storage sites, Penn is expected to become operational in 2028 and will play a key role in supporting grid stability and enabling the continued growth of renewable energy generation across the UK.
